Roger D. Ali, Senior Associate

Roger D. Ali, MBA, C.Dir, CFRE, an accomplished executive with 20+ years nonprofit management experience delivering high-impact results through strategy development, relationship building and philanthropy. He is an authentic leader with deep C-level operational management experience and a passionate sector advocate serving on and working with diverse boards and stakeholder groups. Roger is a strategist and team coach with a proven track record of leading teams and comprehensive fundraising and marketing programs to raise $120 million+, including several capital and endowment campaigns. 

Leadership roles include having served as President and CEO of the Niagara Health Foundation, where he doubled philanthropic income in less than four years  and Vice President of Development at Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, where he doubled income from $3 million to $6 million during his tenure. Roger has also served as Executive Director of the Bishop Strachan School Foundation, and as Director of Resource Development nationally for the Parkinson Society Canada.

He is Vice Chair of the board of directors and is a member of the Governance for Imagine Canada; member of the Literacy Circle at The Charity Report; and past board member of the Hamilton Niagara Halton Brant (HNHB) Community Care Access Centre. He currently also serves as President Elect of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Global. Founded in 1960, AFP advances philanthropy through its 27,000 members in more than 240 chapters throughout the world. AFP has inspired global change and supported efforts that have generated over $1 trillion. AFP’s individual and organizational members raise over $115 billion annually. He is the immediate Past Chair of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Canada; past President of the AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter, where he was awarded the Recipient of Outstanding Leadership Award in 2017, and past Board Member of the AFP Toronto Chapter. He is also a member of the Association of Healthcare Professionals.

Roger holds a Chartered Director (C. Dir) designation in Governance from the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University; an MBA from Athabasca University; a BA from McMaster University as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Administration and Management, and is a Certified Fundraising Executive. He  has continued nonprofit executive level education at Harvard and Stanford University. Roger resides in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
