James R. Norvell, MBA, Of Counsel, is a career professional in not-for-profit management and fundraising. He founded and served as chairman of a capital campaign consulting company serving a wide range of nonprofits throughout the United States. The company exceeded or met goal in over 93 percent of 40 capital campaigns managed or supervised over 30 years. He specializes in establishing programs that take organizations to substantially higher fundraising and governance levels. He has consulted on three continents.
Jim served as chairperson of the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel (now The Giving Institute) and in that capacity he was a national spokesperson on values, standards and trends in philanthropy. He has published a major text, The Art & Science of Philanthropic Fundraising, (Quantum Press, July 2003) with co-author Tom Reynolds, international expert on marketing strategy and decision-making.
Jim received his MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA, and his BS in Business Administration, from Southern Illinois University.
